Scaffolding Competent Person - SCP
This program was designed and aligns with the OSHA standard training requirements to cover 29 CFR 1926.450 – scaffolds, 29 CFR 1926.451 – general requirements, 29 CFR 1926.452 – additional requirements applicable to specific types of scaffolds, 29 CFR 1926.454 – training requirements. Topics that we will cover in this training include introduction to scaffolds, what are scaffolds, types of scaffolds, overview of OSHA directives, suspension scaffolds, supported scaffolds, scaffold safety measures, how to minimize the risks, guardrails, personal fall arrest systems.
After completing competent person: scaffolding, students will be able to define a competent person and explain their importance in construction safety, explain OSHA standards for scaffolding systems, including regulations and best practices, identify common scaffolding hazards and appropriate corrective measures, outline the skills and abilities needed to be a designated competent person, communicate scaffolding hazards to coworkers, managers, and others.
To successfully complete this certification, each participant must be able to demonstrate proficiency by both a practical and written examination.
OSHA does not certify competent persons. This course prepares students to become a competent person as defined by 29 CFR 1926.32(f).
