This course gives you a basic understanding of how to work safely in and around excavations and trenches. You'll learn about the unique hazards of this type of work, including cave-in, asphyxiation, inhalation of toxic fumes, drowning, and falls.

We'll also discuss the preventative measures for excavation hazards. You'll learn how soil and rock classification greatly impacts safety, as well as the protective systems and equipment you'll need.
